Tix began with no-code event planning tools for organizers. However, to evolve into a full-fledged event marketplace, we also recognized the need to cater to attendees. Therefore, having focused on improving the organizer experience with a redesigned dashboard and app, we built a dedicated guest app. This creates an end-to-end experience for event organizers and attendees, encompassing everything from planning and promotion to registration and attendance.

To gain a deeper understanding of the difficulties attendees encounter throughout the event experience, we interviewed both regular and occasional event-goers.
Key findings included:
Event guests need help discovering events on Tix that match their interests, location, and budget.
Emailing tickets can be a hassle for guests. They might waste time searching their inbox, causing delays at the event.
Some event apps need comprehensive and up-to-date information, causing users to seek additional details from external sources.
Most event guest apps have no built-in real-time support. This means users have to switch between apps or use external support channels for help.
Tix's event creators cater to a diverse user base. However, the primary target audience we defined for the guest app is anyone interested in attending live events, such as concerts, festivals, sporting events, business and technology meetups, community events, and Art and culture events.
Based on our findings, the goal is to create a mobile experience for users to discover events, purchase tickets, and access events.
The primary use cases for the MVP include:
Discover local events based on location and interests with customizable filters
Easily buy tickets with our secure payment gateway integration
Save events for future reference, making it convenient to revisit and purchase tickets later
Convenient paperless entry to events by using QR code-based digital tickets on mobile devices
While designing for these use cases, we maintained the simplicity and consistency of Tix's multiple products despite increasing event volume
How we built it
To improve efficiency, I worked collaboratively with engineers and product managers to gather feedback and make improvements.
We developed two user flows in the first stage: signed-in and non-signed-in guests. This allows users to choose how they want to interact with our app. At onboarding, they can create an account/login or decide to explore events around them without creating an account.
If a user decides to create a guest account, they will have access to additional features that are not available to non-signed-in guests.
During the next stage of the process, I designed the user interface for the mobile app and conducted user evaluation sessions with some of our users. This helped us gather valuable user feedback, which we used to enhance the guest's overall experience.
The New Tix Guest App
The Tix guest app prioritizes a seamless experience from discovery to purchase. Users can easily find events happening around them using location services and other filter options. Once they discover an exciting event, an in-app purchase flow mirrors the familiar checkout on our website, making it a breeze to buy tickets. This consistency ensures that returning Tix users can easily navigate the purchase process.
All Tix ticket purchases, past and present, are conveniently stored within the app's guest section. Guests only need to open the app to access their tickets at entry – no need to dig through emails. The tickets are readily available within the app as long as the account email matches the one used for purchase.
Our new wishlist feature lets guests save interesting events they discover. All the desired events are conveniently stored in one place, allowing guests to revisit them later and purchase tickets when ready.
The new Tix guest app prioritizes user experience by facilitating effortless event discovery, streamlining the ticketing process, and offering simple ticket management. This user-centric approach fosters increased app engagement and simplifies the event experience for both new and returning users.
